Cécile Andrée Paule DeWitt-Morette was born on December 21, 1922, and died on May 8, 2017.

She was a French mathematician and physicist.

Cécile DeWitt-Morette founded a summer school at Les Houches in the French Alps.

Her work was awarded the American Society of the French Legion of Honour 2007 Medal for Distinguished Achievement.

She wanted to become a surgeon, and she completed her degree in mathematics, physics, and chemistry due to limited opportunities to attend medical school in France during World War II.

Cécile DeWitt-Morette passed away at 94 years old.
