Hein Verbruggen was born on June 21, 1941, in Helmond and died on June 14, 2017.

He was a Dutch sports administrator.

Hein was president of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) from 1991 till 2005 and president of SportAccord from 2004 to 2013.

Verbruggen was an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 2008.

Before that, Verbruggen was a member of the IOC and Chairman of the Coordination Commission for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing in 2008.

Hein Verbruggen passed away at 75 years old.
