Ustad Rais Khan was born on November 25, 1939, and died on May 6, 2017.

He was a Pakistani sitarist from Karachi, Pakistan.

Khan was regarded as ‘one of the greatest sitar players of all times’.

Khan continued to perform until the end of his life.

During 2017, he was awarded Pakistan’s third highest civilian honour, the Sitara-i-Imtiaz.

Rais Khan grew up in Bombay.

Rais Khan’s training began at a very young age, on a small coconut shell sitar.

During 1986 Rais relocated to Pakistan, seven years after marrying his fourth wife – a Pakistani singer named Bilqees Khanum.

During 1979, the two met for the first time in a programme by the Sabri Brothers in Karachi.

Together, they have two sons together.

He has four sons: Sohail Khan, Cezanne Khan, Farhan Khan and Huzoor Hasnain Khan.

Rais Khan passed away at 77 years old.
