A. S. Ponnammal was born in 1926/7, and died on November 24, 2015, he was an Indian politician.

She represented the Congress Party in the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from 1957 to 1967, having been elected from the Sholavandan consistuency in Madurai.

Ponnammal was subsequently elected to the Tamil Nadu assembly in 1980 as an Independent candidate.

In 1984, Ponnammal was elected in the Palani (SC) as an Indian National Congress candidate.

Ponnammal ran and won the Nilakottai constituency again in 1989 and 1991 as an Indian National Congress candidate and in 1996 as a Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) candidate.

Ponnammal passed away at age 88 in November 2015.
