Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor born in 1968 and died on May 21, 2016.

He was the Emir (leader) of the Taliban, an Islamic fundamentalist of a political movement in Afghanistan also known as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (a recently adopted name).

Reports from the United States Department of Defense official came on May 21, 2016, that Mansour had been killed in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan.

However officials were not sanctioned to speak publicly about the attack, said Mansour and a second militant were believed killed when a drone hit a vehicle in which they were riding.

That strike was authorize by U.S. President Barack Obama who said he hoped Mansour’s removal would lead to the Taliban joining a peace process.

And later The Afghan government and members of Taliban later confirmed his death.

Akhtar Mansour passed away in 2016.
