Andy Coogan was born on April 1, 1917, in Glasgow and died on March 2017.

He was a Scottish author, World War II veteran and middle-distance runner.

His promising athletic career was interrupted by the outbreak of World War II.

When he was younger man, Coogan was a mile runner and his goal was to compete in the Olympic Games for Great Britain, but the terrible consequences of war and imprisonment left him physically unable to continue this pursuit.

Andy Coogan passed away at 99 years old.
