Zena Skinner was born in 1927, in Luton, and died on March 7, 2018.

She was a chef, writer, and cookery expert on television and radio.

Skinner served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service during World War II.

Following the Second World War, Skinner worked as a demonstrator at the Eastern Electricity Board showroom in Royston.

During 1959 Zena’s first appearance on television.

Skinner presented cookery programmes for the BBC and, later, Channel 4.

She appeared as a “castaway” on the BBC Radio programme Desert Island Discs, on 3 March 1969.

Skinner died at 91 years old.
