Roger “Buck” Hill was born on February 13, 1927, Washington, D.C. and died on March 20, 2017.
He was an American jazz tenor and soprano saxophonist.
He started playing professionally in 1943 but held a day job as a mailman in his birthplace of Washington, D.C. for over thirty years.
Hill played with Charlie Byrd in 1958-59, but was only occasionally active during the 1960s.
During 1973, he recorded with Washington-area trumpeter Allan Houser.
Hill has recorded copiously as a leader since the 1970s.
Buck Hill passed away at 90 years old.
