David Gilkey was born in 1966 and died on June 5, 2016.

He was an American photojournalist.

Gilkey was the winner of a 2015 Edward R. Murrow Award (Corporation for Public Broadcasting).

David worked for the Boulder Daily Camera.

He worked for the Detroit Free Press, (1996 to 2007).

David won an Emmy for “Michigan Marines: Band of Brothers, in 2006”

David Gilkey covered Afghanistan, Iraq, Liberia, and Haiti, for National Public Radio.

Gilkey was killed in Helmand Province when his convoy was ambushed by the Taliban.

David Gilkey passed away at 50 yrs old.
