Between 1967 and 1989, he had worked as undersecretary of the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops in Rome and from 1970 to 1989 as Professor of Islamic Law at the University of Sassari (Italy).
And the Pope Paul VI awarded him on February 26, 1971 as honorific chaplain of His Holiness (Monsignor).
He was again awarded by Pope John Paul II as Honorary Prelate of His Holiness, on November 25, 1983.
