Estrella Zeledón Lizano, Costa Rican politician, Died at 89

Estrella Zeledón Lizano was born on April 21, 1929, in Jorge Zeledón Venegas and María Lizano Matamoros, and died on April 10, 2019.

She was a Costa Rican public figure.

She served as the First Lady of Costa Rica from 1978 to 1982 during the presidency of her husband, Rodrigo Carazo Odio.

She was the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from 1981 until 1985.

Her parents were Jorge Zeledón Venegas and María Lizano Matamoros.

Saturnino Lizano Gutiérrez was her grandmother, she was for a short while President of Costa Rica during 1882.

Rodrigo Carazo Odio got marred to her at a ceremony in San José on April 16, 1947. The couple had five children: Rodrigo Alberto Carazo Zeledón, Mario Ernesto, Álvaro, Rolando Martin, and Jorge Manuel.

In 1979, her husband Rolando died in a car accident at the age of 26.

She died leaving fours kids behind.

Estrella Zeledón Lizano passed away at 89 years old.
