Grady C. Cothen was born on August 2, 1920, in Poplarville, Mississippi and died on May 19, 2017.

He was a pastor, state convention executive secretary-director for the Southern Baptist Convention, author, university president, and seminary president.

His parents was Rev. & Mrs. J. H. Cothen.

Cothen married Martha E. (Bettye) Major and had two children; Grady, Jr., Carole Shields.

Cothen attended from Hattiesburg High School, graduated Mississippi College, and received his master’s degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Cothen was ordained into Baptist Ministry at Richton, Ms. Baptist Church in 1939.

He died in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Grady C. Cothen passed away at 96 years old.
