Austrian pianist Jörg Demus was born on December 2, 1928, and died on April 16, 2019, in St. Pölten.
He made his debut as a pianist as a student: at the age of fourteen years old.
Jörg Demus was a contestant at the Vienna Academy of Music, studying piano and conducting.
He started at six years old, taking his first piano lessons.
Among his teachers were Josef Krips and Hans Swarowsky.
He was also a student with Yves Nat in Paris during the early 50’s.
Demus also worked with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Elly Ameling and Peter Schreier.
He worked with string players such as Josef Suk and Antonio Janigro.
The pianist Domenico Piccichè was his student whilst e was a teacher.
Demus earned the Mozart Medal of the Mozartgemeinde Wien in 1979.
