Bimbo is the world’s largest baking company and operates the largest bakeries in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Chile and Spain, and has some of the widest distribution networks in Mexico and the United States. It was also the ninth largest company of Mexico by revenues in 2013.

In 2004, the company reported revenues of US$14.1 billion.

The company has been listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange since 1980.

During 2016, Forbes magazine ranked Grupo Bimbo at #986 on the Forbes Global 2000, an annual ranking of the top 2,000 public companies in the world.

He was the son of the Catalan Juan Servitje Torrallardona (who arrived in Mexico in 1904 and worked in a pastry owned by the family) and Josefina Sendra (who arrived in Mexico in 1914 ).

Servitje studied at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) where he graduated as a public accountant.

Lorenzo Servitje passed away at 98 years old.
