Nerses Hovhannisyan was born on October 12, 1938, and died on October 23, 2016.

He was an Armenian film director, actor, and screenwriter.

Nerses Hovhannisyan graduated from the Directing Department of Yerevan Fine Arts and Theatre Institute in 1959.

Since then on he worked at Armenfilm Studios.

From 1966-1967 Nerses was assisting Russian director Yuli Raizman during the shootings of Tvoy sovremennik (1967).

Other than his directing career, Nerses had occasional acting roles in Armenian films.

Nerses Hovhannisyan passed away at 78 years old.
