Omar Mir Seddique Mateen was born on November 16, 1986, and died on June 12, 2016.

He was an American mass murderer and domestic terrorist.

Omar has killed 49 people and wounded 53 others in a mass shooting at the Pulse gay bar in Orlando, Florida, before being killed in a shootout with the police.

Before the shooting, he was been investigated by the FBI in 2013 and 2014.

Apparently, Omar pledged his allegiance to the Sunni militant jihadist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Al Qaeda, which happen to be enemies of each other, before the shooting.

Around 2:00 a.m. on June 12, 2016, Omar Mateen entered the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and began shooting.

Then around 2:22 a.m., Omar made a 9-1-1 call in which he pledged allegiance to ISIL; referenced Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the Boston Marathon bombers; and mentioned Moner Mohammad Abu Salha, an acquaintance of his who died in a suicide bombing in Syria for the Al-Nusra Front in 2014.

Reports from the FBI officials said that Mateen made two other 9-1-1 calls during the shooting.

Omar Mateenalso called News 13 of Orlando, identified himself as the nightclub shooter, and claimed that “he had carried out the Pulse attack for the Islamic State”.

Omar Mateen took hostages after police arrived and engaged in a gunfight with him.

Then at approximately 5:00 a.m. police shot and killed Mateen, ending the attack.

At the end, Mateen had killed 49 people and injured 53 more.

Omar Mateen passed away at 29 yrs old.
