Tibor “Ted” Rubin was born on June 18, 1929, and died on December 5, 2015.

He was a Hungarian-born Holocaust survivor who emigrated to the United States in 1948 and received the Medal of Honour for his valorous actions during the Korean War as a U.S. Infantry soldier and POW from President George W. Bush on September 23, 2005, 55 years later.

Ted is a resident of Garden Grove, California.

Ted was repeatedly nominated for various military decorations, but was overlooked because of antisemitism by a superior.

Fellow soldiers who filed affidavits supporting Ted nomination for the Medal of Honour said that Rubin’s sergeant “was an anti-Semite who gave Ted dangerous assignments in hopes of getting him killed”.

Tibor Rubin passed away on December 5, 2015, in Garden Grove, California.
