Yawar Hayat Khan was born on October 18, 1943, and died on November 3, 2016.

He was a producer and director of the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) starting from 1965 to 2004.

Khan was considered one of the chief architects of Pakistan Television drama serials in its early years after television was introduced in Pakistan in 1964.

The young producer-director directed the immensely popular rural folk drama Jhok Siyaal (1973), based on a work written earlier by Syed Shabbir Hussain Shah, the Punjabi writer (husband of the classical singer Malika Pukhraj and father of Ghazal singer Tahira Syed).

Which was followed by serials such as Samandar, Nasheman, Dehleez, Sahil, Gumshuda and others, between the 1980s and 1990s.

Khan retired in 2004.

He died in Lahore, Pakistan after a short illness.

Yawar Hayat Khan passed away at 73 years old.
